Sounds trivial but given that it’ll be covered in a case it seems pointless to have a specific colour! I have the white and am considering changing for black as am concerned that the silver edges will get more scratches and blemishes than the black.

Too early to tell on the xr, I imagine, but any current/previous x owners able to comment?

It is all anodized aluminum, it is all the same at scratch resistance. The silver should have the least visible scratches, as the inner aluminum is also silver.

The X is also stainless steel, a harder material than aluminium (and the grey is paint, not anodized aluminum). Plus if you get the silver you can buy polishing cloths and remove the scratches (unless they are deep).

I like the color choice, clear silicon case is what I'm using with a holster. Scratching? I have never used an iPhone without a case. I want it mint for resale in the future. Before I even turn the new phone on I have a screen protector mounted (Spigen's newer case to install the screen protector is genius) and a case put on.

The gray aluminum watches show more scratches than silver, so I imagine any color will show more than white/silver.
