with the recent Apple advert showing people wearing green and purple could this mean Apple are going to bring a colour refresh to the iPhone XR? Another clue this could be happening is that on Apple clear case retail packaging “clear case” is shown in a rainbow colour with green and purple being shown.

Wouldn’t surprise me a bit if they do a mid-cycle colour splash next year. I did think it was odd that green was missing from the original lineup.
This is all speculation based on nothing. If Apple even offers a mid cycle, I doubt it will be the XR, because they already offer a variety of six different colors currently. The only midcycle phone that I believe would happen would be the iPhone XS, perhaps in ‘Product Red’ to assist with sales, being it’s the most expensive iPhone, where the XR will be more successful long term due to the price point differential.
I've been seeing the blue and coral XRs. I wouldn't be caught dead using a green phone. So that's a great way to have zero resale value...
