iPhone XR iphone XR portrait mode with Halide for pets

Hi,

for pets or other squirmy beings who will not sit still, how well does the stock camera app in the XR do portrait mode vs Halide's portrait mode?

The stock camera app requires the subject to be almost motionless before portrait mode "triggers" which is a distinct disadvantage. I do not need to see the blur effect in realtime whatsoever. After all, just take the pic at the right moment and then use your neural network after the fact to do edge detection, just like the pixel. What does halide do? Does portrait mode have to "trigger" first before you can snap a pic?

XR only does portrait mode with people, it needs to detect a face in order to apply the effect.

It isn't true, Halide app allows Iphone XR to take nice portrait mode pics about pets and other by using depth option. I'm personally satisfied .... see more and examples on Halide tweeter web site.

I see OP asking, how does the STOCK camera does compared to Halide for pets etc. Maybe I should've specified I'm talking about the stock camera app.
