I purchased the iPhone XR just over two months ago and over the last few weeks I have noticed several lags, battery drain quickly when I first got it battery life was excellent the best I’ve had out of an iPhone and tonight tops the cherry on the cake Face ID decided it didn’t want to respond so I called apple luckily I got a very helpful person who knew immediately the course of action to take and he also told me to watch for missed calls and dropped calls along with people not being able to hear on the other end of the call all issues related to the software problem which apple has known about for two months and not taking action to recall the device affected

My son got the XR at Christmas and has no issues whatsoever, it's a great phone. What is the software problem you're mentioning and what was the course of action you were instructed to take? Never heard of this before.

Same. The XR just gets better each week I use it. Great little phone that’s probably going to see me through to the 2020 iPhones.

What kind of "software" problem would result in a recall of devices (which, to me, would indicate a hardware problem of some kind)?
I am guessing that the OP just needed a backup and restore.

Is this your first ever iPhone? Did you backup and restore from another iPhone? If so try a dfu clean install and see if battery drain is still happening.

Other tips:
- sign out of FaceTime, iMessages and iCloud and turn off FMI.
- then, sign back in to the above
