When plugging my iPhone XR n the USB port in my 2013 Toyota Highlander first I got a message that my cable might not be compliant and it was not charging. I then swapped out to a different cable, and got the message something along the lines of power requirement of the device is too high, shutting off.

My last iphone was an iPhone 6 and I’m wondering if the XR is requiring more current than the USB in the Toyota can handle? I’m somewhat familiar with the issue. Plan B is to purchase a cigarette lighter charger. Thoughts? Thanks!

It turns out it was the cable, actually several cables, just had to find one that was functional. I’m going to start keeping several in the car.
