Hey all,

So those with iPhone XR which one are you going for? I am planning on going for the iPhone 12 mini. As I got my XR because it was cheapest iPhone with Face ID at the time.

However I have longed for going for a smaller iPhone and the iPhone 12 mini seems to be the ideal iPhone for me. I was also tempted by the iPhone 12 pro too however I understand that’s the same size as the iPhone XR? If so then no point getting that. However then I also think that I am not going to use LIDAR etc. I guess I need to wait to see the iPhones in real but right now really liking the iPhone 12 mini.

I was thinking about getting the Mini as well but I'm a photographer and love the features on the Pro (I know the Pro Max has better camera features but I hate Max size). Also, the Mini has less battery life.

This is the first iPhone I will be using without a case since it will have AppleCare+ so if I think about it, it'll feel smaller since my XR has been in a leather case for the past 2 years

I love the XR size so I am super happy the 12 pro went to the same size as the XR/11/12. As a former pro photographer / current hobbyist and photography lover, I have been longing for a pro for years and never justified the splurge for myself. Last time around the price difference was greater between the two levels, but this time I am leaning towards splurging for the 12 pro. Pro max camera has a few benefits, but it's just way too big for me.

So the 12 pro is the same exact size as the XR ? I was thinking the 12 pro was the same size as the x/xs ?

They're all 6.1" screen class, the physical dimensions may differ slightly. The 11 pro was 5.8" screen, so that changed with the 12 pro

Is the width about the same ? When I put my x next to the 11 pro max , the x seems tiny

Sticking with my XR (to my own surprise, I kinda expected to have a strong urge to upgrade once the iPhone 12 was announced).

It still looks like new, still super fast and when I really think about it, if I upgraded I’d likely find the new stuff nice initially but quickly forget about it and settle back into my normal usage.

I was worried about keeping the XR past the 2 year expiry of the AppleCare+, but thankfully Apple now let you renew AppleCare+ on a rolling monthly basis once the initial policy expires.

Saying that if I was *forced* to upgrade I’d pick the regular iPhone 12

The iPhone XR is a good iPhone and mines running still good to this day. However reasons I am changing to the 12 mini is that I just want to go back to a small size iPhone plus I do like all the features that come with the 12 models and it’s a lot lighter than my XR.
