Hi, I have an iPhone Xs 256GB which is less than a year old (11 months). As the battery ran out quicker than usual, I checked the battery's capacity which stated 93%.

7% after not even a year is a lot in my opinion. Especially considering that at 80% a li-ion battery is practically dead and that with less capacity it will decline even faster.

I visited an APPLE store where I was told that this is normal. They did run diagnostics.
I, or rather my family do not have this problem with an iPhone Xs Max 256 GB, iPhone 8, iPhone X and even an iPhone 6 and 6s (battery change around 1 year ago). They are all at 100%.

Do you have a similiar experience? Did they exchange your batteries?

PS: I do not have apple care. [Guarantee is running out soon, warranty is still another year]

Thanks!

How much do you use your phone? How many battery cycles? Do you run it down to under 10%-20% a lot? Do you push your phone to where it gets really warm a lot? So many variables involved besides its "less than a year old".

Don't worry about what the percentage says, it's not an accurate representation of your phone's true battery health anyway. It's a not a problem as you put it. Just use your phone and enjoy it until you're unable to get proper use from it. At that time address it.

1. Forum search is your friend. There are DOZENS of threads just like this one. Honestly don’t need another.

2. Batteries are a consumable and age with time. It’s chemistry. Yes, it varies, but yes, it’s normal.

I had my XS from launch and reached 88% capacity a year in. Battery life was still good.

I upgraded to 11 Pro, so I’m really not worried anymore. If you are concerned, get a battery replacement if possible.

Depends on how much you use your phone and charge cycles as @Phone Junky said. My iPhone 8 is at 94 percent and it’s 2 years old however I mainly use my phone for calls and text. I would think your battery is fine for at least another year.

No, usually when I am back home its at 20-25% and I charge it then. Mostly till 70% or so and then again in the night till the morning. I am not a have user. All my other iPhones before did not have this problem. It does not get warm. 200 cycles according to Apple

1. I did a search. Found more or less 3 topics which are rather old and talk about 97% - huge difference.

2. Yes, but is it within the "normal" range. If I pay 1300 EUR for a phone, I don't expect to pay for a new battery after not even 2 years. And my phone is lasting noticeably less and running quicker out of battery.

OP, my former Xs was 86% Capacity after just one year. The Xs is a fine phone in many ways, but in the battery life category it just lacked, honestly
