Hello Guys ,

I recently exchanged my XS Max for XS (due to power issues) and from the past 2 days i notice something strange. Here is the link:

Notice how , when the the "control center" is pulled up , traces from the menu icons ( volume , brightness and etc) remain over the main screen and disappear after.

What do you think? Is this a reason to worry? Software or hardware?

Thank you,

Nicky

Looks fine to me, turn on reduce motion in settings>general>accessibility and see if that makes it look better.

Adam.

Thank you all for your answers.
I needed to be sure that its not hardware related. If it's a software bug/glitch i don't really mind it.

@adamgbiggs , i tried with "reduce motion" on , but the improvement its minor.

Have a nice day/night! :)

It's not a bug but why do you care since it follows the screen's curvature and you don't see it.

Well , given the fact that it's a 2 day old acquisition , and i'm still in my return period , being prudent and aware of every weirdness of the device is the least i can do.
Also few days ago , Apple released their "iPhone X Display Module Replacement program". I acknowledge that the issue there is related to something else , but it's still about faulty display units. And the X and XS are absolutely the same , at least regarding the display.
I'm also aware that given the fact that i managed to record a video with the issue , this shows that most probably isn't related to display , but still , this doesn't look normal to me. I had Samsung Galaxy S7 for more than 2 years , also Super AMOLED , but never noticed that kind of remaining traces. For a expensive unit like XS , this is just unacceptable.

It isn't image retention, as others have stated it's just the way iOS animates the transition when exiting control centre. Your phone is working fine. If you can't put up with the effect that's up to you, but it won't get fixed because it's not a bug or hardware issue so you'll need to return it and get a different brand of phone.

My X is exactly the same, nothing wrong with your phone. You can also turn on reduce transparency along with reduce motion. Reduce transparency will get rid of the blured background in control center
