A few years ago I moved from using a laptop to a desktop computer. Part of the reason was I wanted to spend less time using my computer, and it’s worked out pretty well.

After three years using an iPhone SE, next week I’ll be getting an iPhone XS and an Apple Folio case for it.

With the desktop, I can only use my computer at my desk, not all over the house.

I imagine that having such a massive phone with a cover will mean it no longer fits comfortably in my pocket, it will need to spend most of its time in my bag, and so I hope it will make using it such a hassle that I choose to do so less often.

Has anyone who’s made a similar switch noticed a reduction in their use of the phone? No change? An increase?

Yes, it’s called self control :)

I would think the opposite with the desktop, going to a small laptop would make me use it less.

😉

I used to use my laptop all over the house, so confining macOS computing to my desk helped me reduce that.

Now that iOS computing has expanded to fill many of the things I used to do on my laptop, I’m interested in isolating it likewise.

I hope the folio case will make it less pleasant to use my phone, will find out next week 👍

Some different thinking there lol.

The folio makes it nicer easier to as use screen opens when you open the case, get a otterbox defender that will stop you using it :)

Oh no! I've never used a phone with a flap that needs to folded away from the screen before and assumed it would make it more difficult, that's why I chose it instead of the regular leather case. If it turns out to be easier like you say then I'll try the Otterbox Defender instead.
