my iPhone XS Max is having an issue with public WiFi.

The WiFi logo fluctuate from 2 bars to full in hospital WiFi and hotel WiFi what can be the issue ?

My mom XR is doing the same thing.

No I haven’t tested my home WiFi yet.

WiFi hotspots themselves can be the issue. Public WiFi is usually not very powerful (at least for what it would usually need) and often enough isn't really configured in the best way or even all that correctly. The coverage is usually over a larger area with all kinds of structures and materials around so interference can play an important role as well.

Hard to say what might specifically apply to the particular hotspots you are dealing with, but those are a variety of possibilities of might be in play.

Stay away from public Wifi, unless you have properly secured your device.

Do you recommend I try my house WiFi and see if it does the same thing ?

I have noticed that my XS Max wifi is quite week. I go to a starbucks in Cortland in Manhattan and on my previous Note 9 the wifi was slow but it connected. On the XS Max it does not. It's not too big of a deal luckily because T-Mobile works fine and eventually will switch to Verizon for better speeds and connections but the wifi is not as strong for sure. It seems to fail to connect to weak wifi signals, so that may be the issue.

Having more datapoints would certainly be helpful as far as seeing if it's something that is more likely related to the WiFi network itself or the device.

I try that and tests my home WiFi on both devices and see if it happens.
