iPhone XS Max iPhone XS max apps and watch issue

So my new iPhone XS max keeps closing apps randomly and my watch says it’s not paired to a phone while the phone shows it’s paired.

I already removed and paired it 4 times

Try a hard reset on the phone (volume up volume down then push and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo). My watch wouldn’t connect to my phone at first either, and that fixed it for me.
