I hate cases. Naked is the best way to go. But if I go with the Max, this will shake up my pocket situation, as I won’t be able to use the “5th pocket” of my jeans anymore. And I don’t think I could get used to having my keys or money clip in different pockets (currently left for money and right for keys).

First I thought if some sort of pocket insert or something, I’d that even exists. But now I’m thinking of a new solution: sleeves.

I want something that will cover the phone in my pocket and protect it from my keys, but still allow me to use the phone naked. So ideally I’d like to be able to keep the sleeve in my pocket, while being able to slip the phone out (leaving the sleeve in my pocket) one handed, without much hassle. So I don’t want something that’s too tight and requires 2 hands to remove. Taking the whole thing out of my pocket, removing the phone, then putting the sleeve back in my pocket... all sounds less than ideal.

So preferably something somewhat grippy toward cloth, yet firm enough to be able to slip the phone back into it while it’s in my pocket. So a flimsy thin cloth bag would not work.

I have a Joli sleeve for my MacBook Air, which is very nice. Great quality. I’m just afraid the leather will slide out of the pocket too easily when trying to remove the phone, since I’m expecting it to be a slightly snug fit. No experience with any of the others.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experience they can share?

I’ve found these so far:

I got this for my 6 plus. Looks great useless in day to day life as you can’t access the phone one handed.

I did come across that one as well. I liked how the pull tab raises the phone up, but like you said I’m not sure it’s suitable for one-handed retrieval. Plus the leather is surely quite smooth. Thanks for sharing.

You could also think about installing glass front and back protectors, with a simple metallic bumper case. That should provide protection from the keys and also be as close to naked as you can get.

You can skip the bumper case if you so desire.

Negative on both. I am adamantly against screen protectors and any type of cases/bumpers. I like the perfect feel of the phone right out of the box. The sleeve idea is just solely for pocketing it (hopefully quickly and easily).

I'm probably going to go Waterfield. Their stuff is well done and I like these color options.

I'm probably going to do a clear case or an Apple leather case too so I protect the phone from a drop. Waterfield will allow you to size it to accommodate the Apple leather case. I'm looking for the slip case to keep my screen safe when throwing in my bag.

I've always loved the Hard Graft look but it only fits a naked phone. You might look at that.

I’ve been using sleeves for years. The best ones I’ve found are the Heritage Sleeves from Sena. There is a break-in period in which the leather stretches to fit your phone, but the phone fits snugly and can be slid out by pushing on the buttom of the case until enough of the phone protrudes from the top for you to grab it and pull it out. I have been able to slide the phone into and out of the sleeve while it’s in my pocket, but usually I take the case out of my pocket and hold it behind the phone, “just in case...” I’ve already preordered the sleeve for iPhone Xs Max.

I don’t see one called “heritage” on the Sena website, only the ultra slim one I posted above. Is that what you ordered? Good to know they’re a good brand! Thanks for the suggestion.

It’s on senacases.com and its official name is “UltraSlim Leather Sleeve for the iPhone Xs Max.” ... they keep changing the name, but it’s the same product.

I've had a Sena ultraslim sleeve for every one of my iPhones since the 3G. Highly recommend it. The only problem I have is that it takes so long to receive it after launch so I end up buying other cases in the meantime lol.

I’ve used fitBAG for my iPhones for years. They are well made, reasonably priced, take a lot of abuse, relatively easy to clean and come in many styles.

The heritage leather has a smoother feel to it, and stitching across the lower bottom of the case. The UltraSlim is not the same as the Heritage UltraSlim e.g. here is the heritage for the older iPhone's. I've had both the Heritage UltraSlim and the UltraSlim, they're definitely not one in the same as the grain of the leather is different.

OP: The problem with most leather sleeves is they add so much bulk by not tucking the leather and so the stitching is on the inside.

I tried a joli original with my 6S Plus at the time and it went straight back in the box as the added bulk is crazy. I can tell by looking at the waterfield one that the Xs Max will end up feeling huge in your pocket with that on.

That's why I liked the Sena Heritage Ultraslim, and the normal Ultraslim, as they tuck the leather. However, I ended up getting switching the the fitBAG for my X and now Xs Max because the Sena cases are so tight that they often hold buttons pressed, like the power button, causing it to do an SOS call.

The fabric fitBAG's are nice, I'm using the Jive Gray at the moment, and previously alacantara, but the alacantara seems to trap crumbs/dust/etc on the outside of it quite easily as its slightly furry fabric.

I've got a couple of the Beat Gray leather fitBAG's coming just to see what they're like

Any ideas for a sleeve/pouch that will fit the XS plus apple silicone case?

I came across this etsy store where they can custom make a sleeve/pouch for you. So you could get in contact with them to see what they can do.

Does the older sena heritage ultraslim for the 7+/8+ fit the XS max? I like the smooth leather better.

The normal ultraslim from my 7plus was a tiny bit loose with my XS max but it might have just been worked in a bit too much. A brand new one might be a great fit and I think it would provide a bit more protection on the top.

So I used a leather sleeve from Burkley for my 7 Plus Jet Black originally for the year that I had it and It kept my phone flawless. They never made one for the iPhone X, but they finally released one for the X and Xs. They say they're making one for the Xs Max soon.

I'm personally waiting on that to release and rocking that again. The leather was soft and it has a microfiber lining to keep my phone clean. AND the sticking isn't on the outside which I absolutely hate. haha

Need sleeves with top flap so crap doesn't slip in. Any options other than the neoprene sleeves?
