Evening All,

on Friday 3rd November I was awaiting delivery of two iPhone X’s. After numerous delivery problems throughout the day I finally drove to the depot at 6pm to collect my parcel, as they had tried to attempt delivery at an incorrect address.

When I arrived home I was absolutely shocked to find both iPhone boxes were MISSING THE PHONES AND CHARGERS. I could not believe they had been delivered and there were no phones inside of the boxes. The packaging externally and internally seemed un-damaged and I can’t see any evidence of tampering.

Has anyone ever experienced this? I am still awaiting replacements from Apple, which is unacceptable In my opinion!

any feedback would be appreciated.

You would think the package weight would reflect this! o_O

I know - I didn’t know if this had happened to anyone else. First thoughts were obviously they’ve been stolen along the delivery line, but I can’t help but think there’s been a problem within Apples production line.

Were the clear plastic wraps still on the boxes or were they missing?

The origami style packaging was still one. It’s not like the old packaging that was fully enclosed, it was the sticky tabs style, but yes, it was still on?

One thing I noticed, which was strange, was the lid section of the box was the opposite way to the bottom, which meant one end was always upside down. It was the same for both phones delivered, which I noticed before I even opened them, as Apple is usually so particular with minor details.

You do know that the phone weight would have given it away, especially two phones. Did you know the weight difference of the package? If it were me picking it up at the depot, I would’ve noticed right away that this was a light package for two phones and would have opened it up right then and there

No? The App,e manager who has been assigned to the case said this would be a line of enquiry. The package I’ve received states 1.0kg? That’s for two iPhones and all relevant packaging - does that seem light?

1kg seems about right.. an iphone X is 174 grams, 2 is 348g, plus add the packaging and you'd near 1kg.

I really hope this ends good for you, because honestly I'd be really concerned. I'm going to go into lawyer-mode for a second so bare with me. You have no way of proving that the phones weren't in the package. Once you picked it up from the depot, they will say you could have went around the corner, took the phones out, repackaged it, and started a complaint that the phones were missing. This is an eBay scam that's been used for years.

The only thing I can think of is that Apple can blacklist the phones. However, I don't know if they will give you replacement phones. If the packaging was upside down, someone through the process clearly opened the package and re-packaged it after taking the phones.

That stinks! You know though, I am surprised how heavy my box without the phone but WITH the included accessories are. I’m not sure I would have noticed either.

I can see your point, however we’re talking about two phones not one, and that would’ve been a wake up call for me if I held it in my hands. But that’s just me.

Just wondering. This happened last Friday. It's Monday. Why post this so late? Also, what did Apple say when you reported this?

Im not sure of this story--doesn't seem feasible to have 2 of your iphones missing at the same time, Im I the only one that doesn't buy the story?o_O

My work had a couple of iPhones, that were ordered from Verizon, stolen while in transit before. The shipping box was clearly tampered with and the iPhone box did not have the plastic on it.

Nope. I have my doubts. The entire thing seems kinda fishy. Delivery issues, having to go to the depot. I've watched a dozen unbox videos, they have cellophane around the boxes, not tabs. Even virgin phones are worthless to steal. Apple will blacklist the imei.

The cellophane has a tab on them to pull to open

Sounds a lot like you're trying to scam Apple out of two iPhones and registered and posted here just today to try to add credence to your story?

Good luck.

Apple will lock down the missing iPhones anyway.

The only value to a stolen virgin iPhone is the ability to sell to some poor sucker on Craigslist. He shows up with the cash, he is able to power on the units and shows they are not even activated yet, boom drops the cash and gets a sad sick feeling when he tries to activate them..
Let this be a lesson folks, never buy a device off the internet. You'll be stuck with a 1000 brick, you wife will leave you, depression sets in and you hit the bottle hard.. The money you spent on the phones was supposed to go to rent, so you loose your cheap crappy apartment and find yourself performing sex acts in alleys for wine money.. It's the same old story, I've seen in a dozen times.. Hope the scammers are happy. We were trying to start a family..

How's posting in a forum adds "credence to the story"? Do you honestly think Apple scours internet forums in search of evidence of two missing phones? Nice try hurling accusations, Mr. Junior Detective

I reported it all straight away, last Friday, and provided all the screenshots and evidence of the incorrect delivery attempt. I did this yesterday as I was frustrated that I have paid for the phones which never got to me and I’m still sat here with nothing and wanted advice if this had happened to someone else.

I was only trying to get some advice as I’ve been waiting for an update from Apple since I provided the evidence of the incorrect delivery on friday. Just gutted I’ve paid for my devices and still sat here with nothing.

This is a disappointing comment. I’m out of pocket and missing two items That i have paid for. I was looking for some advice as I’ve been waiting since Friday for a detailed update from either company.

Both iPhone boxes were in the some parce! Disappointing you can’t ask for advice and people start questioning your morals.

Has Apple already agreed to replace them?

Hi Peter,

They haven’t said - they have just told me they are conducting a delivery investigation and asked me to provide all of the screenshots and evidence from the incorrect delivery.

Well that’s a false comment as I have the tabbed plastic packaging here. They didn’t come with the old cellophane wrapping. It’s like the origami packaging with multiple tabs that pull apart

Picked mine up from Apple store, did not have the plastic wrap but had a plastic cover with tabs like you said. Each edge of the taps had a sticky line to hold the tab.

I’m sure someone stole it during delivery line. No way out of millions of phones, two mispackaged phones end up in your box together. What is the probability of that? You would have thousands having this issue

Hi Peter,

I agree - I said the exact same thing to my partner. Also, both lids of the phone boxes (with the phone image) were the wrong way round, making the writing on the bottom part upside down. I can’t help but think with how meticulous Apple are that the boxes would have shipped to correct way.

It’s been such a frustrating weekend and still having to wait to find out any details.

This has always been a fear of mine, which is one reason why I chose to try my luck with a carrier store for the iPhone 6 launch. I ended up properodering the iPhone 7 and iPhone X, but this scenario repeatedly crossed my mind. Please let us know what Apple does to resolve this issue.
