I was looking at the specs of the new iPhone Xs/Xs Max and noticed there are 2 models. The A1920 and A1921. Seems they are both exactly the same as far as the communication mechanics inside goes. Here's a screenshot taken directly from Apple. If these specs are the same for both models, then the only question is what exactly is different between the 2 models then?

Besides the cellular/wireless specs, seems like both models are true world phones that can be used internationally unlike last years iPhone models.

That's possible, well if that's the case, then it'll certainly take the guess work out of which carrier or sim free model to get, as they all feature the same exact cellular & wireless specs inside.

They ditched QC, only using Intel modems. So yes, besides China they will all be the same.

I like the larger phones but it’s definitely a consumer friendly move to have the size be the only difference. Pushing a dude into a larger phone to have all the features is cold blooded.

So the Xs is A1920 and the Xs Max is A1921... but then each model has a GSM and a CDMA model? This is getting confusing now.

I thought that the these new iPhones come with both GSM and CDMA chips? If that's not the case, then which model should I get if I want a phone that works internationally? The one with GSM or the one with CDMA? And how do we choose? Does AT&T only come in a GSM model and Verizon/Spring come in CDMA only model? For a true world phone it would need both GSM & CDMA. So which model do I get?

There is ONE model that has both CDMA and GSM.

Looks like each are world phones with identical world wide bands. I looked into it because I wanted to know for the MAX should I get AT&T or sim free. Looks like it’s all the same phone. And if one pays up front I believe the AT&T would be unlocked and basically sim free (except it comes with an AT&T SIM card in it). Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.
