Is there any disadvantage to buying the sim-free version of the iPhone XS vs. the AT&T version? I currently have the AT&T 6S, and would transfer the sim card from that phone to the XS. Are there any bands that are not covered on the sim-free version that are on the AT&T version?

Because you can’t buy it on a payment plan

It is quite interesting to see how easy it is to get a SIM free even now. High barrier to entry, but helpful for those that prefer and are able to pay full up front.
