iPhone XS iPhone XS- touch screen not responsive

Mu daughter dropped the phone and now I hear a very small and low rattle. The touch screen works briefly and then doesn’t.

Does the entire screen need to be replaced or did something come loose?

When responding everything works from the screen to Face ID. When it doesn’t, only the touch screen not working.

Took it to Apple yesterday but I didn’t buy the Apple Care and now out of warranty. They want to charge $249 to replace the screen but never did a diagnostic.

3rd party will charge $149

Pros & Cons?? This is my first time ever needing to replace something on an iPhone.

Traded it in. Apple took it in surprisingly and gave me the $500 trade-in credit since it responded enough while at the store.
