Hello

I guess many will now say „oh no, here we go again...“(sorry) I googled a lot yesterday about screen burn in especially on the iPhone and I am still a worried...

There was quite a lot of talk before the release date and some afterwards...But I didn’t really find many user experiences about it.. I guess that is a good sign because if it was a serious problem the Internet would go nuts... ;) no info is good info probably... but I would love to read some reassuring experiences... ;)

I am a very cautious and easily to scare person and I would hate to not enjoy my phone’s display after 2 years ( I am only upgrading every 2-3 years)
I would just love to be able just set that „issue“ aside and order the IPhone Xs because I would love the camera and size and color... but with the cheaper IPhone Xr having an LCD display I might have to take a pass on the camera for my peace of mind about the display burn in... it is a lot of money after all...
I mostly play games, use the web browser, and watch videos on my phone at least that’s the stuff I do for an extended period of time without changing apps...

So, I would like to hear some IPhone X user experiences about screen burn in...
did it happen? If yes, is it noticeable under normal usage?
Did you take any precautions? like never use full brightness?( I usually never even have it brighter than 40% but I used full 100% in summer when navigating Disneyland so I am a little scared of I‘d do so again with an IPhone Xs)

What are your experiences? Should I worry and buy LCD or just enjoy the OLED display with a new Xs?

Thanks for any help!

Had the X practically since launch. No burn in whatsoever for me. If it burns in then Apple’s warranty will cover it.

Pretty much always rocking full brightness. Plenty of times I’ll fall asleep to a YT video which has a static image on most of the screen. If anybody was gonna get burn in, it’d be me.

Just enjoy your phone. No point being paranoid.

Launch day X with no image retention (commonly called screen burn). Haven't done anything special, just enjoyed my phone as I did all previous ones.

Same. Launch day with no burn in.

I had same concerns as you so I stopped having Google maps displayed in car at all time. I’m in car 2-3 hours a day. Now I lock screen and listen to prompts for day to day use in familiar areas. I have taken several longer trips in unfamiliar areas and left screen on 6+ hours and have had no issues. I use the phone quite a bit outside of car too.

After a year of use I think I was paranoid about the Google maps thing as well but now it’s the new habbit.

It’s good. Enjoy the phone and the OLED.

I’ve had my X since launch day, absolutely zero burn in.

Of course, I don’t do silly things with it like have it sitting on at max brightness with static elements on the screen for hours at a time, but I doubt anyone dies that.

Thank you all for the replies!

That’s pretty much what I hoped to hear...some real life IPhone X experiences... ;)
Yes I am paranoid. I know... but I also trust Apple to do their job... and after reading your responses I guess they did.

Reminds me of the people who get paranoid about OLED televisions. They see some guy run a "burn in test" where he leaves the TV on the same channel for 3 months without changing it and then assumes that watching everyday programming will cause him the same issues.

LOL had mine for 1500+ hours with no issues. I'll be dipping into a new phone next year and will get a taste of it then. It's no doubt as amazing as it is for home theater.

Same here, pre-ordered my X, used at very high brightness a significant amount of time, the display is still perfect a year later.
