3 weeks ago I bought a new iphone4s but it happens
to shut down randomly and I have to do a hard reboot to turn it on.
My friend told me to check Diagnostic&Usage to check errors, I found a panic
list there. The problem is my phone did fell on the floor 1 week ago, which cause me unable to replace he phone because they told me my phone got small scratches. Is it true that even with major hardware problem I can't get my phone replaced? If so, anything else I can do. Please help. Thank you.:(

It sounds like there's more to the story than you're letting on.

Most employees would overlook small scratches... after all, practically every phone out there has some.

Now, if they were more than small scratches, a crack, or something that screams 'this phone was dropped, opened, or otherwise tampered with' it'd be a different story.

Then there's the whole issue of, with it being a hardware issue, of you being able to prove that the drop didn't cause whatever problem there is.

If it is just small scratches, as you say, I'd continue trying with the Apple stores. Be nice, polite, and hope you can find a Genius willing to help.

Did you go back to your wireless carrier with this issue or Apple? Because I know people that had Apple replace their iPhones even though they had scratches on them when the problem was related to a warranty issue. As said above, keep trying with your local Apple store.

You make no sense at all
You sound like the guy that wink wink dropped his phone now he just don't love it like he used to cause its all funky looking and now I've got some phantom issue that is messing up my phone so I need a shiny new one. I would bet you I'm right. J

Thanks for replying in the first place.

I went to the telco company who offered me the plan, and they told me i can replace my phone as this was the second time i encountered random shutdown problem after 2 days where they update the phone.

There's a little ''bruises'' on the front near the front camera and a little scratches at the bottom of the silver part.

The phone is alright for me but what disturb me is the random shutdown things.
I don't mind if i don't get a new phone but at least they could fix the hardware issue for me.

I will be visiting the telco company in the next few days time and try again.

By the way, i'm not the type of wink wink guy like you said.

Thanks for the help!:)

Why dont you just go to an Apple store if one is nearby? They should have no problem taking care of it for you even if you have a couple of scratches. Even a couple of nicks are OK as long as the whole screen is not shattered.

I have even seen some cases where they "feel bad" and do a one time replacement.

At a guess, he's in a country without apple stores. Or without one locally.

If you don't have any apple store nearby.....CALL APPLE. Scratches will not void the warranty.

My country do have apple store.
As I said, I bought the phone with plan from telecommunication company so if there's anything I can only refer to the telco company.

The good thing is, the second telecommunication center I visited has no problem to exchange the phone for me. I be getting a new one hopefully there is no problem with that one.

Previously, they don't allowed me to change because the technician claim that the hardware issue may arise from what they seen from my phone(scratches)

Once again, thanks for all the comment. ;)
