Why my XS shows lte instead of 4g or are they same and different from model to model

It depends on the carrier.
In my country, one carrier uses LTE while another uses 4G to indicate LTE connectivity.
From a consumer perspective, it's essentially the same thing.

I wish Apple provided more granular indicators like Android, where it can show 4G or 4G+ to show a difference between LTE and LTE-A.

5GE = fake 5G (gigabit LTE)

^^ if apple can read from the modem whether LTE Advanced is in use (Carrier aggregation basically) so as to display 5Ge for AT&T users in the US, why can’t they use this same technical implementation for display “4G+” for the rest of the world when carrier aggregation is in use. Really baffles me. In the UK showing 4G on the top right with a good signal can vary from 2Mbps to 200Mbps, it’s ridiculous.
