My young adult daughter's iphone X unlocks when her teen age sister (7 years younger) uses her phone. I would not have said they looked that much alike.

I don't see a way to 'tune' the detection. Has anyone had this problem and found a way to correct it?

I'm not worried about sisters access as much as I am that it isn't accurate.

Apple has said it doesn’t work well for siblings and children. We’ve seen a number of reports of false positives among siblings, family members, and children. They suggest using a passcode instead of Face ID. This is a Gen 1 product, so don’t expect it to be perfect.

Apple says “The statistical probability is different for twins and siblings that look like you and among children under the age of 13, because their distinct facial features may not have fully developed. If you're concerned about this, we recommend using a passcode to authenticate.”

If they look sufficiently alike and the younger sibling uses the passcode then FaceID will update her face too. Maybe that is what's happening.
