I've had my iPhoto library on a Drobo for a few months, all has been fine. Recently upgraded to iPhoto '09 and performance is terrible. It takes 5 minutes to open iPhoto. The Faces feature causes constant beachballs. Overall it is just very sluggish.

Is this just '09? Or '09 combined with the external drive?

I have 15,600 photos in my library. Any tips on how to fix these performance issues.

I have a white C2D 2.16Ghz iMac with 3gb RAM. Drobo is on FW 400.

I have the same problem, ish. It works fine but then stalls, beachball for a bit, then works again. Don't know why.
