If iPhoto is up to date you should have version 9.2.1. Download the update via Software Update or the Mac App Store and try again.

iPhoto 9.2.1 corrected an issue with the 3ivx media plug-in. Have you checked /Library/QuickTime or ~/Library/QuickTime for any non-standard plugins? Drag any non-Apple ones to the Desktop and restart the computer to ensure they aren't loaded and try importing. Also, are you importing directly from your camera, phone? Or are you using a card reader or some other adaptive interface?

Ok. Fixed. It was flip for mac. It needed reinstallation.

Import did not work from any source. Enabling photo stream was crashing it immediately, so new library was needed to be created, then disabling photo stream to make the original library work.

There was no 3vix, but I removed all components from /library/Quicktime, restarted and it worked. Putting back one by one, revealed that this stupid windows ***** plugin was the cause of at least five working hours lost.

Thank you for your advice, JediMeister.:apple:
