Hi,

so this may be a strange question and im not sure im explaining it right, but my computer had iphoto and photos.

iphoto has only a partial of my pictures and photos app looks to have all of them.

I want to know.. if i delete pictures from iphoto will it also delete from photos?

Also where are all my pictures physically housed as i am trying to manually move them to my new macbook.

sorry if this seems silly

The libraries are in your ~/Photos folder.

Back up your Mac before you do anything, because a mistake will cause you to lose your images. They will be different, for instance the photos library is call Photos Library.

So iphoto and photos library are all joined cause I saw random pictures in iohotos.

I think what happened here is you had a iPhoto library, then when the newer Photos app came out, that library was converted and imported to a new Photos library and going forward new images were added to Photos.

So you still have the old iPhoto library along with the newer Photos library that contains the old images, plus new ones you have added. Does that sound correct?

Look in your Pictures folder and you should see a iPhoto and a Photos library. If everything made the trip into the newer Photos library you can ditch the old iPhoto library. I would back it up just to be safe.

All that said, the old iPhoto library is not really using any space anyway due to macOS use of hard links. Give this article a read.

It looks like that is what happened. So i'll have to just move over my photos library than and ignore the other.
