iPhoto Crashing importing embedded JPEGs

After the latest iPhoto update from Apple, my iPhoto crashes trying to import JPEG embedded with the Adobe RGB colorspace (they have a JPE extention). If I copy them over to the drive and change their extentions from JPE to JPG iPhoto will import them successfully.

Has anyone experienced the same?http://images.macrumors.com/vb/images/smilies/confused.gif

Maybe iPhoto just doesn't recognise the extension. Were you able to do this before?
