iPhoto Duplicates?

I have a problem. Everytime I plug in my iPhone 6 (with iOS 8.1 12B411), into my MacBook (OSX 10.9.5) to sync to iTunes (12.0.1.26), and more importantly to iPhoto (9.5.1) to transfer all the photos over from my recent vacation I get a weird result.

It makes duplicates of every single photo. I went from having 300 some odd photos to now over 900!!! (I ejected it and replugged my iPhone into the MacBook a second time lol).

Anyone know WTF is happening? More importantly? How do I stop it? Also, how do i delete the duplicates?

Happened to me as well, I unplugged and tried a different usb port. That worked for the time being...

I wonder if your problem has anything to do with this problem:
OS X keeps appending "(2)" to computer name

It's easy to think of iPhoto deciding that MyMaque and MyMaque (2) are different devices, with different content, which it should sync with.
