iPhoto freezes MBP...

Everytime my dad open iPhoto on his MBP the "spinning ball of doom" pops up and freezes the whole computer. Not even force-quiting will work. So what is the deal here? He only has around 980photos currently in iPhoto. VERY fusterating😱PLEASE HELP!!!

P.S. I am running 10.4.11(happened with 10.4.10 also)
