Hi,

I took a few hours today to finally add faces to all of my photos I just put into my new MBP. As you will no doubt know its a great feature.

If my friend Phil comes over I can show him all the photos he is on. If I want to show him pictures of my friend from another country I can find them all easily. Put simply it is a great way to organise who is on what and there for what photos would be interesting to who.

Videos would also benefit from the above organisation. Yet there seems no option to add faces to Videos. I do understand it isnt as easy to add them to a moving object. But im not that bothered about faces staying over actual videos faces. Im just bothered about being able to sort everything into people specific sets. In honesty I couldn't care in the photos if the faces square goes over the correct face or whatever, I only care the photo is sorted to tell me the individuals upon them.

How do I do that with videos? It would be great to have photos AND videos all nicely packaged up under a person face folder on the faces tab.

Can this be done - How?

Quite easy. You can mock this feature by using intelligent albums:
- Select all videos containing the person you care about;
- Open information panel and add a tag with the name of the person you want. Type enter to apply the tag to all selected videos;
- Under my albums, create a folder named "People" and add an intelligent album beneath it with the following conditions:
"Person is <name of the person you added to the photos>"
"Tag is <name of the person you added as tag text to the videos>"
Note: don't forget to select the option "any of the following" to behave as an OR condition.
- Repeat the procedure for all other people you want.
Voi là, you'll have all fotos and videos of all people you want in the same place.
Hope this helps.

How did you find this topic after seven years? Just curious.

LOL, I was researching whether Apple had already delivered such functionality and bumped into this post.

BTW recently I realized MacOS Photos is able to automatically find faces in videos if the defined video poster frame has faces in it. I then manually set desired poster frames and tried to add faces by myself in several videos which has no face in the default PF. Not sure why sometimes it works fine but sometimes it doesn't (the face circle runs to the left side and does not allow me to type a name). Probably it's not a supported functionality. Now I changed the poster frames of several videos and I'm waiting the background process to find the faces by itself, hope this works.

A downside of this functionality is that it only works fine when the poster frame has all people you wish in the same frame, which usually is not the case.
