iPhoto not recognising device

Ever since I downloaded iOS 5 last week, my iPhoto won't recognise my iPhone. I want to transfer some photos from my iPhone to my MacBook. Usually I just open iPhoto and it straight away recognises my iPhone. But it no longer does. Can anyone help?
