iphoto not working

everytime i open iphoto it says i have to upgrade my library. then i get the spinning rainbow ball and then it quits. i was able to take a pic.

I made a thread very recently about the same problem. I have not gotten a full answer yet.

I have another screenshot, but I'm new to mac and do not know how to paste screenshots (or other pictures for that matter) onto this site.

I have been getting that same issue ever since I did the big upgrade that included Safari 4
