iPhoto opens then shuts down

Did you check the console for error logs? It could give you an idea as to what could be causing it.
iPhoto on my late 2013 iMac with 10.8.5 opens fine (I have no photos on iPhoto library though... I use Google Picasa). However, iPhoto DOES crash when I click on Places. Apple could have done something to discontinue that feature somehow....
