iphoto problem

Ok, so, i upgraded to ilife 05, and decided to finally use iphoto. I have an external hard drive, and so, i just clicked add files from the hard drive. Many were duplicates, it found a totaly of around 2500 pictures, and after I deleted duplicates I was at 818. Yet, it seems like it only deleted them from iphoto not the actual computer. If i click on the acutual pictures folder, its 4gigs, and should only be around 1, what do i do???

Did you delete from library, or delete from an album? If you delete from album it only removes the picture from the album but leaves it in your library. If you delete from library, then you will need to empty trash via the iPhoto menu when you are done. (all pictures are retained in the iPhoto trash can until deleted)
