iPhoto Recogonizes 4S but not my photos?

I'm trying to get my photos onto iPhoto and it's recognizing that my 4S is plugged in but when I click it no pictures show up? This has never happened. What could be the problem? I only have about a months worth of pictures I need to get but I do need them before wiping this phone.
 
Well never mind. I messed around with unplugging it a few times and closing iTunes and some other random stuff and they eventually came up.
