iPhoto redeye and duplicate photos

how do i set iphoto to keep only the modified photo w/o the redeye instead of keeping the original and the modified copies?

ie: after i modify a photo and hit done i want that to be the only copy of the photo i have .,

I think you only have the one copy after editing a picture, unless you rename it. In which case there are duplicates. Not sure if there's a work around.

iPhoto keeps the original in case you ever want to undo your editing. So, there's no good way to do this from within iPhoto, and I don't recommend making changes to the iPhoto files via Finder.
