Hey guys, there is an update to iMove - its called FINAL CUT PRO! Quit messin' around with that dinky little program and run with the big dogs baby!

And then of course there's Adobe Premier 6.5 for the middle ground.

Oh, wait. Nobody cares cuz it sux. Well, nevermind. :p

I use it on my Win2000 PC. Let's just say I can't wait to get a new Mac in another couple of months. And a nice educational discount on all the software. FCP for $299!!!

Yeah baby.

I agree, performance is a problem with iPhoto. I've been using it on my Titantium PowerBook with no problems, but last week I set it up for a friend on his iBook, and it was real slow. It made me feel a little guilty for recommending an iBook in the first place.
Don't know if this is a hardware or software problem, however...

New iTunes feature in iPhoto

I'm surprised that most of you seem to have missed the obvious update to iPhoto! I'll be really surprised if they don't add the same 'live updating' folder option from iTunes 3 to any iPhoto update.

Just think, no more assigning keywords to a photo and them manually moving it to a corresponding folder(s) !

I would also like to see the ability to download any short movies made with my digital camera at the same time as downloading any photos. It's a feature that appears on almost all digital cameras so why not have it intergrated into iPhoto?

One more thing....Does anyone else wish that you could set the zoom slider to different positions for each folder and not just one setting for all?

Totally. This feature would rock, but I think the logistics involved in supporting all the proprietary movie formats would maybe be too great. For example, I output to QuickTime, but my co-worker's outputs to MPEG - only, it's not, it's called Motion Jpeg. Which requires a specific codec to be installed to view it (ie. it's not standard per se).

So, unlike still image standards (RAW, JPEG, TIFF, etc.), digital movie standards really don't exist in the digital still camera market, imo.

HTH!

How about the ability to archive albums directly to CD retaining thumbnails and metadata in your iPhoto Library.

Then if you need to access or edit an archived photo it can tell you which CD you need.

Yes...Archival!

MacDaniel...that was another item on my list that I couldn't remember yesterday. That should be in the top 2 0r 3 most important feature updates, IMO.

I would love this feature. It would be great for those of us without huge hard drives, and also it seems like it could be used for backup. Although sub-albums also sound good.

I think the main tweaks iPhoto needs are staying with its shoebox metaphor, and bringing it functionally closer to the way iTunes works as far as naming image files, and deciding where they should be stored.

You could even be able to sort by the source of the image, whether it be a frame from an iMovie, imported from your digital still camera, something you worked up in photoshop, or scanned in, or pulled from the web or some other source.

iPhoto to iPod

why the iPod, not the iJukebox or iListen etc., etc., etc.?
...because the iPod has more functionality than just playing music. And Apple has said that they intend to add some new functionality to the iPod. My guess is that the next version of iPhoto coincides with a new iPod with a high-rez color screen.
Your iPod syncs to iPhoto just the same as it currently does to iTunes, and can display thumbnails of all your pics.
