iPhoto 06 maintains only one original, one modified and one thumbnail (tiny in size); I just checked this out on some pictures I know I modified on at least two occasions, maybe three. Doing a finder search for the file name turned up the above. Maybe its different in iPhoto 08?
I'm currently letting iPhoto import from the camera to the iPhoto library.

Use Automator for it.

I think it's crazy that there is no way to PURGE an event and or album. Would there be anyway to create an Automator to do this? I have little or no experience with it, just seems like this is a spot where it might be handy.

I have iPhoto 08 and I did a quick test to see if iPhoto truly saves every edit you make to a photo. I edited a picture and then went to Finder and searched for it. It found 3 copies (original, thumbnail, and edited picture). I closed iPhoto and then opened it again. I went and made another edit to the same picture. I went to Finder and searched for it again, still only 3 copies. So it seems that iPhoto DOES NOT save every edit you make to a picture and it only saves the last edit.

Anyone else have the same findings?

I have noticed the same. But certain groups of photos after I have color adjusted, cropped, red-eyed, and so on, I just when the final product, I do not need the original anymore. So if I go up north and take 200 pictures and edit 100 my computer is storing 300 pictures. I only want to store the 200.

same here, I still don't know how to get rid of all of that, and also, does iphoto convert edited pictures to tiff, it seem sliek it, why do all of my edited pictures take about 20 mb a pic?

IIRC, the photo program on Vista has a preference where you can tell it not to keep originals after an edit.

Wonder if iPhoto '09 (or whatever the next one is called) will have that feature?
