iPhoto won't update when syncing

iPhoto on my MBPr won't sync all the photos to my iPhone 5. It says it has in iTunes, but when I compare the Photos.app on my phone and iPhoto on the MBPr, they are not the same. Is there a way to force them to update each other? I have tried rebuilding the iPhoto library and deleting the iPod Photo Cache folder, but nothing has worked.
