Hey guys,

Just got my new mac - it's great.

I've imported 15GB of photos into iPhoto Library.....

...and now the iPhoto library is over 20GB.

I have checked for duplicates, there are none, and I doubt iPhoto software occupies 5GB !

Can anyone shed any light on this ?

Also any other photo fans out there - what do you use to back up your photos ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

John

iPhoto keeps several copies of photos, one for editing, one original, and one thumbnail. I believe that's what is taking up the extra space.

Just to clarify, the edited photos are only created where necessary. If you make any change whatsoever to the photo, it'll create a new file with these changes rather than directly modify your original file. :)
