iPod ipod 3rd gen hard drive

i replaced the hard drive in an ipod 3rd gen and it will no longer show in windows. when i try to go into disk mode or diagnostics i cannor. it just stays on the apple screen. any ideas about whats wrong?

I know old thread but did you ever get this problems figured out? or just toss the iPod aside?

My old 3rd gen 40GB iPod also has a HD issue.

Spins ups, clicks a few times and then spins down - and repeats the sequence until the battery runs out.

I found a web site that sells new HDD, £35 and £8 for a new battery.

But, sort of strapped so can't afford the repair.

I miss my iPod 🙁
