iPod touch iPod 3rd Gen not responding to touch

Hey guys, quick question for you. After restoring my 3rd Gen iPod Touch, the touch screen doesn't respond to me trying to use the slider to open it. I know this is a really old model, but it's the only one that works with my stereo in my car and at home. How hard is this to fix? What tips do you all have for possible fixes? Thanks for your help.

Restart it first by keeping both the power and the home button pressed for 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

I had the exact same issue and after spending much time along with a trip to the Apple store along with a second party repair shop determined it was a hardware issue (and not a software one) and thus couldn't be fixed.
