Hi, I just got hold of an iPod classic 3rd gen and its displaying the folder with the exclamation Mark. I'm trying to restore it, I don't think it's supported by iTunes 10 as it doesn't come up when in disk mode and I cant install iPod updater...any suggestions

I'm on a mac

Also remember to use Firewire to charge it up. USB should sync, but won't provide any power. If it's low on power it might be causing the error you're getting.

I don't mean to worry you, but that's usually not promising. Follow the steps Apple provides here. Good news is that it isn't the Sad iPod icon, if that makes it any better. :( Best of luck though.

*Yes, as noted, remember that FireWire is for power and USB is for syncing with that model. It isn't like the one-cord-does-all, as with all iPods after it.
