I was digging through my closet and found my old iPod 5G.

The battery is basically shot and the hard drive seems like it's on its last legs (lots of arm clicking and restarting) but the device itself is in great shape. I was thinking about replacing the battery and upgrading to a flash storage solution. Looking around though, there are many kits that either use the older compact flash cards or the newer SDHC sticks.

Which kit is most recommended by you guys? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I just did this to my old 5G iPod Video. I bought a new battery from OWC, and the iFlash Dual (dual SDXC cards) from Tarkan. Originally I had tried to find a new HD to replace the old one, but they were unavailable from OWC.

The Tarkan adapter was very easy to install. I hear you can get an even larger capacity battery if using the Tarkan adapter as well.

put a fat back on it with a tarkan adapter. Can put a 2,000mAh extended battery in it too.
