iPod ipod and avi

Does anyone know if the new ipod can play avi files. The reason I as is because this is the format I back up my dvds on so it would be nice to not have to re-rip them

I doubt it.

Personally the first thing that hit me was watching subbed anime on the new iPod, but between them being AVIs and the subtitles being damn hard to read on such a small screen, it ain't worth the trouble.

The new iPod will not play AVI files natively - you need to convert them using iSquint, iMovie HD, ffmpegx or Movie2Go. 😎
