Hey guys,

I was hoping to be able to use an iPod with Time Machine to backup my work folder (yeah I can do it with 3rd party apps, etc) - but Time Machine wont support an iPod (and yeah I know theres reasons).

So I have an idea... Dont know if Im going to attempt it yet but... Partition the iPod so it will still boot as an iPod (theres instructions on the web) - and if my assumptions are correct the second partition will show up as a "regular" usb drive and should allow for Time Machine to detect it.

Anyone attempt anything similar? Any thoughts?

Would be nice, I'd also like to use my iPod to backup.

it doesn't work

Did anyone get this to work?
disadvantage is that you can't use the ipod diskspace you reserved for the partition?!

I erased my 5G ipod video to produce a single empty drive, and I also tried partitioning it into 2, each in HFS+. Neither method worked, time machine never identified either, even though they are clean. It would seem that since the firmware states the device is an ipod, which is required to inform the computer which drivers to use, time machine automatically denies it. I also put the .com.apple.timemachine.supported file onto the drives, the one that is suppose to make time machine recognize the drive as legit, and it still didn't work. oh well.
