iPod iPod and viruses

I need to back-up some files on my computer because I have a virus and am going to re-image my laptop.

Can I use my 160GB iPod, as a flash drive, and xfer the files I want to save to my iPod without fear of coping the virus to it?

The iPod can be used as a storage device, yes. But whether or not the virus migrates over as well depends on whether or not a file you are backing up is infected. It won't harm your iPod, however.
