i am trying to use ipod classic to a church amplifier (for hymns) through the headphone socket, but the volume is too low, I have set the output in settings to maximum, but it is still to low (everything has to be set right up) . So I bought a 30pin output to 3.5 socket but found I cannot use the volume control on the ipod (so have to use keep using the volume control on the mixer to vary the volume, (which is awkward)). When I tried it at home through a ipod dock with power to the ipod the volume control on the ipod works ok, any ideas.

If I'm reading this right, you're having volume issues when using the convertor, and non when you use a normal dock (and NOT using the convertor), right?

If so, at a guess I'd say that the issue lies with the convertor - what item did you buy? Have you looked online to see if other purchases are having issues?

I think the 30 pin connector provides both analog and digital out. One uses the iPod volume control, the other doesn't. I don't know which.

TiggrToo No I would like to have volume control via the ipod but using the 30pin connector I do not have any volume control other than the mixer unit (which is to far away to be convenient to operate). I am using a 30pin to 3.5 jack straight into the mixer.
Chabig: That sounds more like the problem I am having. When using the ipod in the church via 30 pin it blasts out (with no control, other than the mixer), when using the ipod at home via the dock it is quieter and but you can operate the volume control on the ipod, if I unplug the power lead on the dock the ipod is muted.
All the ipods operate the same at 2 churches, I will have to try to find a way of altering the volume without the dock as it is to bulky and no electric supply nearby
