iPod Ipod Classic and Alpine HU

Hi. I have an alpine 9874 in the car and want to be able to use the alpine cable to charge the ipod while controlling my music via the ipod itself. Is there some sort of trick you can perform to 'disconnect' the ipod from the alpine so they are not synced but still keep the charge?
