iPod iPod Classic very laggy

Is it worth resetting it to factory settings then re-adding the music?

Anybody done this before?

Always worth a try to restore, but first, try restarting it by holding the center button and the menu button for a few seconds.

The hard drive might be going if it's consistently slow even after a restore.
