Is it possible to put the last generation user interface onto the iPod classic? I like the old one better; not all of my music has album art; and I heard the new UI can lag with the hard drive....

I'm relatively sure that it's impossible.

You can find the 5th gen iPod firmware somewhere on the web, but I doubt it will work on your "6th gen".

PS: You don't need to use Cover Flow to view your music, you can still browse by artist, album, etc.

PPS: Matte is better 🙂

I agree as well. I find the new UI totally useless. That's what I've always liked about the iPod, it was simple and got me to my music fast. I don't want to look at the iPod I want to listen to what's in it!

The iPod Touch/iPhone is completely different because multi-touch makes it quick to use and more intuitive than the clickwheel with the added bonus of a great looking UI.

I should add that it's not the coverflow that bothers me.... it's the split screen graphic junk
