I have a new IPOD Classic 80GB. The hard drive on my computer is not big enough for me to download my entire CD collection onto my ITUNES library. Therefore, I am downloading a certain amount until there is no memory left, then attempting to load them onto my IPOD. But eachtime I do it wipes out what I have already put on to the IPOD. I am backing up the MP3 files onto CDs, so I haven't lost anything, but can I download these straight onto my IPOD without having to go through the ITUNES library first?

You cannot copy music to your iPod classic without iTunes, but if you set it to 'Manual Updating', you will be able to transfer each set of music without wiping the set off.

You can get a 300gb external drive for about $80, sometimes if on sale, 500gb can be had for $100 shipped from online merchant. Just go buy one. The time savings is worth it, unless you are getting paid way at third world wages.
