I am going to get a macbook pro and am in college so I will get the free ipod deal. I was wondering, for those who have used this deal, will I need to show documentation that I am in college? if so, when? Thanks

either your student i.d. or if you're new you can show them your acceptance letter. last time i went in they just asked me what school and for my driver's license.

edit. and if you order online.. you don't have to show anything.. which i think loophole for others.

I ordered online, but before I did I went to a store to see if I could get the new MBP faster through the store. They had me show my student ID (and also quoted me less of a discount on Apple Care). Online they just ask what school you're at and ask for no proof - I don't imagine this keeps out people trying to get a discount who aren't in school. However when I was in my local Apple store a future freshman at my college was visiting town with her parents and looking to buy a Mac and she had some documentation like her acceptance letter and stuff and they were talking to someone and I overheard the Apple person say that they needed an ID, so you might be able to get by with an acceptance letter with some places but definitely not all - I don't think this girl got her Mac that day since they wanted the discount.

That iPod deal is crazy though. I got my dad an 80 gig iPod Video for his birthday and it only cost me $150!!!
